Urmiberg

Rules for paraglider pilots

The flying area is managed by the flying school touch and go… (paragliding.ch), with the support of the GCRM (Gleitschirmclub Rigi-Mythen – gcrm.ch).

Take-off and landing fees are covered by an annual pass or a day pass. The annual pass costs CHF 20 and entitles the holder to take off and land with hang gliders for the respective calendar year. The day ticket costs CHF 10 and entitles the holder to take off and land on the day in question.

Landing site Brunnen

The landing site is about 400m south of the Urmiberg valley station. Official landing ban in the Hopfräben nature reserve.

LANDING CIRCUIT
The landing volute is always south of the landing point.
Left-hand volte (yellow) in westerly or southerly winds, right-hand volte (red) in easterly winds.

LANDING AREA
The folding area is south of the red hydrant in the northern corner of the landing area – this area must be used for packing! Please keep noise pollution to a minimum! Switch off radios, no very loud conversations. Try to avoid flying low over Bristenstrasse 29.

Do not use the shade provided by the houses opposite as a recreation area. No cars at the landing site. Also not for loading material. Please also keep the sidewalk clear.

Föhn conditions

The flying area lies at the northern end of Lake Uri and is located in a well-known föhn valley. It is not recommended to fly on the Urmiberg in föhn conditions! Pay particular attention to the wind conditions and föhn index measurements in Altdorf and Bälmeten.

Info about the Urmibergbahn

The Urmiberg aerial cableway is a private cableway, which is mainly used for restaurant guests.

Restaurant guests have priority and must be allowed to go first on request.

The cable car runs every half hour from 9:05 a.m. to 6:05 p.m., every ’05 and ’35. If there are 4 or more people, the cable car also runs in between if possible.

The cable car fares are EXCLUSIVE of take-off and landing fees.

It is not possible to upgrade from a one-way ticket to a day ticket.
The cable car operator only accepts cash, so please make sure you have enough cash with you.
