What is an SIV?

SIV | Safety training | Freestyle training
SIV – Simulation d’Incident en Vol – Simulating Situations in Flight
SIKU – Safety course, paraglider safety training
Paragliding safety training is not a test of courage. Quite the opposite: the aim of a SIV is to expand your comfort zone when flying.
If done correctly, you can fly more relaxed with your newly acquired skills and of course have more fun in the air!
YOUR SIV-COACH
Gabor Kezi is a former paragliding aerobatic champion, Swiss flight instructor, specialized in SIKUs and trainer of the Swiss cross-country league.
Eva Maranta is a Swiss flight instructor and experienced SIV instructor. With her knowledge and focus on safety, she helps pilots to strengthen their skills and confidence in the air.
It’s all about the fun
“Maneuvers are my specialty in paragliding. You don’t have to be an acro pilot to master stalls or a few freestyle elements. These skills you learn with me will help you develop a deeper understanding of the limits of your equipment and of course yourself. Safety training is not an easy course, but most pilots will take to the air with even more joy and confidence afterwards.”
Gabor Kezi
To achieve this, we will learn and practise the following in the SIV
- How to react correctly in extreme flying situations. We practise the reaction and the right timing
- When and how to use the rescue parachute
- We practice maneuvers at your level: rattles, pitches, rolls, fast descent maneuvers, stalls, freestyle elements
- You will learn more about mental attitude and your limits. Finally, we will expand your comfort zone
- During the safety training, we practise in a controlled environment: with a safety boat, life jacket, radio connection and professional coaching
