Cross country flying

Zoom theory session: Thursday, April 25, 2024 – “Introduction to cross-country flying” CHF 50

Cross-country flight day: Sat/Sun 27/28 April, 2024 and Sat/Sun 04/05 May, 2024 – the better day of both CHF 30

Are you ready to take the next step after your first experience of thermal flying on your local mountain? The cross-country seminar and cross-country days are perfect for pilots like you who want to extend their skills to longer flights. It’s not just about staying in the air, but also about mastering the art of successful cross-country flying and broadening your flying horizons.

THEORY COURSE “INTRODUCTION TO CROSS-COUNTRY FLYING”

We will work on the basic requirements for cross-country flying. Our lesson covers everything from the basics of cross-country flying to advanced techniques and flight planning. In addition to the right choice of equipment and flying instruments, we will deal with topics such as thermal utilization, (valley) wind systems, flight route planning, weather analysis and development as well as safety strategies – everything you need to set and achieve your own flying goals safely and confidently.

We use tried-and-tested planning tools to plan individual routes that are tailored to the participants. We discuss in advance how we can best manage the route:

    • Where are possible thermal hotspots on our route?
    • Where are the key points?
    • How much height do we need for valley crossings?
    • And where can I land?
    • and much more.

CROSS-COUNTRY FLIGHT DAYS

Once we have answered all the questions, we take off together. Pilots registered for the cross-country flight days will be informed of the decision on Thursday evening or Friday (if the weather forecast is uncertain). After we have already worked out the basics and possible routes in our online course “Introduction to cross-country flying”, the final briefing takes place on the day of the flight directly at the flying site. We determine the final route, load the flight task onto our devices and set off to fly. A detailed debriefing will take place online on the following Tuesday evening.

And the best thing about this course? The community. Meet like-minded people, exchange experiences and learn from each other. There is nothing better than connecting with other pilots, flying together and growing together.
