What to expect
Have you ever dreamed of flying over high mountains? Fly with us this spring in Switzerland, where you can learn and deepen your knowledge of thermal and cross-country flying in the high Alps. Comfortable and wide launch sites, soft green landing sites and reliable thermals await you in Europe’s top flying areas. Switzerland has the highest concentration of paraglider pilots and after this week you will know why.
Our goal for the camp:
- Find thermal trigger points
- Understanding the valley wind systems
- Flying downwind/upwind
- Route planning and implementation (airspaces, weather, terrain, hotspots/routes, lines)
At the camp, you can concentrate fully on cross-country flying and cover as many kilometers as possible. Our drivers will follow you online and pick you up after landing.
Minimum requirements:
– Swiss license or at least IPPI4
– Independent take-off and landing
– You understand English or German

FLIGHT AREAS
Our accommodation is located in the heart of Central Switzerland.
We choose the best flying area based on the current weather forecast.
- Engelberg region:
Good starting point for XC flights and regular venue for national competitions. In 2019, this was one of the checkpoints for the Red Bull X-Alps race. - Schwyz region: We can choose from several launch sites with breathtaking views and great differences in altitude.
- Jura: This region often offers good conditions in spring and with a low cloud base. It is the starting point for excursions into the lowlands and easier terrain, and is also very suitable for XC beginners.
- Valais: With the right weather forecast, we will certainly spend 1-2 days in Switzerland’s most famous cross-country mecca. Here some pilots can fly 100km triangles and more.
- Ticino: The Italian part of Switzerland is known for exceptional cross-country flights in spring!

Insurance for foreign vacationers
Before you take part in our Swiss XC trip, you must ensure that you are adequately insured. All visiting pilots must have liability insurance of CHF 1 million (approx. € 930,000). Proof of this must be provided. Inexpensive short-term insurance is available online from the Swiss Hang Gliding Association (SHV-FSVL). Details can be found at https://www.shv-fsvl.ch/de/member-service/insurance /, here is a short summary (*):
Pilot’s liability insurance (basic insurance)
- Valid for 30 days or as otherwise agreed
- Liability towards third parties on site
- Collisions in the air
- Guaranteed amount CHF 10 million
- CHF 45 for 30 days
Accident insurance (supplementary insurance)
- Search, rescue, recovery, transportation of the accident victim in accordance with 5.3 of the GCI
- Medical expenses according to 5.3 of the AVB
- CHF 100 for 30 days
Recovery of the aircraft
- Costs of recovering the aircraft by specialists after an accident
- Up to CHF 5,000 per case
- CHF 25 for 30 days incl. SHV administration costs and 5% stamp duty
