WHAT TO EXPECT
Have you been dreaming about flying over high mountains? Join us this spring to fly in Switzerland where you can learn and deepen your knowledge about thermal and cross-country flying in the high Alps. Comfortable, large take-offs, soft green landing fields and reliable thermals are waiting for you at the top flying sites in Europe. Switzerland has the highest concentration of paraglider pilots. Once you have been there you will know why!
Our goals for the camp: finding thermal trigger points, understanding the valley wind system, the difference between lee/luv side flying. Planning and executing XC trips (airspaces, weather, terrain, hotspots, lines, routes).
You just focus on your flight and to do as many kilometers as you can. Our drivers will follow your location online and pick you up after you landed.
Minimum requirement:
– you are a licensed pilot (Swiss license or minimum IPPI4)
– you are able to takeoff and land independently
– you understand English or German language

FLYING AREAS
Our accommodation will be in the heart of central Switzerland. We will choose the best flying sites according to the actual weather conditions.
- Engelberg valley: Good starting place for XC trips. it is a regular feature in national and international competitions. In 2019 this was one of the checkpoints of the Red Bull X-Alps race.
- Schwyz region: We can choose from several take-off places with amazing views and large altitude differences.
- Jura mountains: 50+ km flights are easily possible, even for the pilots new to XC flying.
- Valais valley: With the right weather forecast we will spend 1-2 days in this most famous of Switzerland’s XC places. Here, some pilots could fly 100+ km triangles.
- Tessin: The Italian part of Switzerland offers amazing XC days, especially in spring!

INSURANCE FOR VISITING PILOTS ON HOLIDAY
Before you join our Swiss XC trip, it is your responsibility to make sure that you are insured sufficiently. All visiting pilots must have CHF 1 million third party insurance (about €930’000). You must carry proof of this with you. Low cost, short-term insurance is available online from the Swiss free-flight association (SHV-FSVL).The details of this can be found at https://www.shv-fsvl.ch/en/member-service/insurance/, but a short summary(*) of the cover is:
Pilot Liability Insurance (Basic Insurance)
- Valid for 30 days, or as otherwise agreed
- Liability towards third parties on the ground
- Collisions in the air
- Guaranteed amount CHF 10 Mio.
- CHF 45.- for 30 days
Accident Insurance(Supplementary Insurance)
- Search, rescue, retrieval/transport of the casualty
- Some treatment costs
- CHF 100.- for 30 days
Salvage of Flying Equipment (Supplementary Insurance)
- Recovery of flying equipment after an accident.
- Up to CHF 5,000
- CHF 25.- for 30 days
